This no man’s land between summer and ‘true autumn’ demands more of the stylish modern man – balancing multiple layers, accessories, knit weights… it’s easy to trip up in Fall.
Dressing well in this period means creating a layered look, giving you the adaptability to move from a chilly beer garden to a cosy fireside pub all the while looking perfectly turned out. So we’ve pulled together a few top tips for this transitional period to guide you through the changeable weather ahead.
Early autumn is the perfect time to reintroduce knitwear to your wardrobe after summer’s spell of short sleeves. But don’t reach for your chunky Christmas jumper right away. This part of the year is all about fine gauge knits, that is, knitwear with a finer profile which will take the edge off those autumn showers without leaving you overheated indoors. Try a fine gauge knitted polo shirt to provide the perfect bridge from your summer polo look into the new season.
MATCH OR CLASH
Winter layering depends on a keen eye for balancing interest levels with appropriately sophisticated levels of outfit co-ordination. If you’re going for a boldly patterned shirt, keep the rest of your look relatively plain, or if you’re in a minimalist mood create a monochrome look but accent with a dash of seasonal colour (claret red or deep forest green are two of this season’s hottest shades). If minimalism isn’t for you and you’re wearing multiple patterned pieces it works best if they can somehow be inter-related. Our new collection uses a variety of checks and houndstooth patterns in a variety of colours and sizes to allow you to create a multi-layered look that still sings together to create a well-considered look.
This season’s most important menswear trend is the Sports-Luxe movement and this is great news for this warm but wet / chilly but sunny period of the year. Remus Uomo have been inspired by elements of the sports-luxe trend and the added comfort and flexibility it offers men in how they dress. We’ll soon have lots of full and half zip knitted tops on our site which will be the backbone of your summer-to-autumn and winter-to-summer transitional wardrobe. Zip them right up or leave them open with your favourite tee on show for a versatile and fall-friendly way to dress.
Layering your outfit is also a great way to subtly bring in the incoming season’s most important colours. This season claret red, deep dark green and teal are the trending colours which can be introduced with a scarf, piece of knitwear or even with a pair of coloured chinos.
We’re adding new knitwear styles every week, so check back for more key layering pieces next week but in the meantime, shop our mini-collection of items which are perfect for building your transitional wardrobe.
