As we launch into our sponsorship of RTE’s coverage of the FIFA World Cup 2018, sport is very much on our minds. The key to great football is a combination of skill and a sense of fun or playfulness: witness the gleeful mastery of Lionel Messi as a case in point. Great style adheres to much the same formula: practice and knowledge of your game are vital, but there’s nobody so stylish as a man who is visibly comfortable with his personal wardrobe.
Many men find it challenging to craft a considered look but the key is firmly in the detail. An oxford or brogue can dress up a look and a casual leather sneaker can be paired with trousers to dress down, it’s a simple trick but can make a big difference to your overall style. Of course, when formality is the order of the day, you can still experiment with a floral or abstract print on a necktie to add colour and focus to the rest of your suit.
