The latest collection from leading menswear brand Remus Uomo marries striking pattern and bold colour with the brand’s typically refined take on commercial summer outfitting.
The brand finds inspiration for the season in a dreamy, relaxed retreat to the Italian countryside, represented most strikingly by the season’s use of colour. This season the palette draws directly from the Tuscan landscape with shades of pale stone, rosemary green, Mediterranean blue and bright sunshine yellow. Cool shades also feature prominently with apricot, cornflower blue, berry and blush balancing the vibrancy of more primary accent shades like poppy red.
Print stories too take inspiration from this youthful retreat to nature with wildflower patterns and nature-inspired prints featuring in shirting and accessories, alongside sun-bleached stripes reminiscent of hazy days by the seaside. These softer toned patterns are met head on by the bold vibrancy of colourful Hawaiian prints as tropical foliage and bright psycho-tropic inspired patterns bring a touch of 60s inspired psychedelia to the summer wardrobe.
Meanwhile fabrics such as linen blend tailoring and washed cotton in shirting and casual bottoms evoke a relaxed summertime feel.
The influence of vintage athletic wear continues this season, appearing in the collection in shirting, knitwear, jerseywear and outerwear with retro vertical stripes and sports-inspired detailing across the collection. This season will see the introduction of a new full-zip ‘track top’ as part of this ongoing trend. Tipping on collars and cuffs also allows for easy colour co-ordination with fantastic ‘retail appeal.’
More newness comes in the form of the brand’s novel approach to blazer styling as the casualising workplace and the importance of new layering pieces brings forth new styles which blur the lines between the classic blazer and the lighter ‘overshirt.’
